Annual Meeting & Awards Night 2012

Ella Sharp Museum, 3225 Fourth Street, Jackson, MI was the site for the annual meeting of the Center Stage Jackson membership on August 28, 2012, where some of the people who have done so much for community theater over the past season were honored.

Memorial tributes and a standing ovation were given for special theater friends who passed away since last year’s meeting:  Bob Mulvihill, Tom Planeta and Dick Wilson.

Ann Holt was given an engraved plaque in thanks for her endless contributions to the organization, as she stepped down as Executive Director.

Doug Meyers was honored with the Ted Wood Award, for his many years of effort and contributions to community theater, especially, of late, the CSJ Youth Theater.  The award was presented by Ted Wood’s son Michael Wood.  Michael and his wife Susan are involved in selecting the winner of this award named for Michael's father.  The first recipient of the award, Bill Insley, wrote that, "Community theater in the Jackson area might never have endured without the dedicated efforts of Ted Wood, and he showed no partiality to any one players' group (Clark Lake Players or Jackson Civic Theater) . . . He was a tireless worker. . . And his happy, friendly manner in the box office gave our patrons a warm feeling of welcome."  The award was originally given by Jackson Civic Theater at Stone Village.

The President's Award was presented to Amie Pierce, Dean Weber and Ellen Yoakam.  Rookie of the Year Award went to Katie Meyers, Jenna Whisman was given the Youth Award, Wendy Jacobs won the Techie Award, and The Hammy Award went to Lisa Ykimoff.

Congratulations to newly elected board members Steve Hug, Todd Lutz, Dean Weber and Lisa Ykimoff.

The second Center Stage Jackson scholarship awards for those taking classes in theater went to Christina McKim of Grass Lake (Albion College), Caitlin Dunlap of Tecumseh (MSU) and Amanda Mahoney of Brooklyn (Wayne State University).

Shining Star Awards were distributed to performers and volunteers for outstanding contributions for the 2011-2012 season:  In alphabetical order:  Heather Albee-Scott, Steve Barrett, Leslie Bradley, Ellen Cole, Amanda Dahlin, Chuck Edwards, Randy Guernsey, Elliott Hitt, Betsy King Steinert, Todd Lutz, Don Mansfield, Ginger McNetton, Susan Murphy, Margie Pelkey, Larry Shaltis, Jeremy Steinert, Sandy Sykes and Jessica Warring.
