Synopsis

The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef!
Harold’s plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the town librarian. But can Marian transform Harold into a respectable citizen before the town gets wise to his devious deeds?

The Music Man won 9 Tony Awards in 1958, even beating out West Side Story for Best Musical that year. The energetic music includes recognizable (and highly parodied) hits such as “Ya Got Trouble” and “Seventy Six Trombones.”
