About Reader’s Theatre & Staged Readings
Staged Readings are different from regular plays or musicals in that actors and actresses perform with scripts in hand, with minimal set, props and blocking. They are an excellent choice for actors that want to get their feet wet acting but do not have a lot of time to devote to a full show. There are typically only a few rehearsals and just one performance where actors are not required to memorize the material. All Center Stage Jackson Staged Readings are currently FREE to the public and located at several locations in the Jackson community. Learn more about the Reader’s Theatre Series.

Director
Nickolas Brown is no stranger to Center Stage Jackson! Nick made his debut with CSJ back in 2017 in the production of Shrek where he played the ever so loving Donkey! Since then Nick has been waiting on the opportunity to come back and be part of the CSJ world. Nick holds an Associate degree from Washtenaw Community College and Bachelors degree from Eastern Michigan University. If you can’t find Nick in Michigan you can see him traveling the U.S., because he is a flight attendant. Nick is also very excited to share his vision with the community in directing this cabaret.
About this Cabaret
“To know thyself is to love thyself”. The theme of this cabaret is to raise awareness for suicide prevention and spread a much-needed sense of love throughout the community, starting with ourselves. Loving ourselves leaves us open to loving others and spreading joy.

What singers should prepare for auditions
One minute or more of a vocal solo. Please keep the theme in mind when selecting your piece.
From the Director: Sing the message behind the song you are singing. I want to know why you chose the song through your delivery with the song. If I like it, it may be used for the cabaret.
Vocals can be accompanied by piano, a track (CD player & speaker with aux cord provided), or a capella.
Singers should bring their schedules to list potential rehearsal conflicts from February 27 through April 11, 2020.
Rough Rehearsal Schedule
Tuesday and Thursday evenings with occasional Wednesday evening rehearsals.
