What actors should expect at auditions
All children (age 8 to 12) need to come prepared with a song to sing (a simple song is okay!).
Children who wish to be a Munchkin with lines will also do a cold reading from the script. A “cold reading” means reading from a script without seeing it or being able to practice it beforehand. The purpose of the reading is to find out how much volume and expression the actor can read with, as well as how they adjust to direction.
Adults and teen (age 13+) auditions will consist of a cold reading and singing. Prepare at least 16 bars of a song in the style of the show.
Bring sheet music, a track without vocals, or you may sing a cappella. An aux cord, CD player, and accompanist will be available for the singing portion of auditions.
This audition will not include a choreography portion.
